Vietnam System Mapping — Day 03

Date: 2026-03-03 (Asia/Bangkok)

Mode: Observation only. Mapping only. No prediction. No advice.

Topic 01 — GDP Structure (Macro Base)

Objective: Map the core GDP structure and the main engines of output.

Key Variables to Track:

  • GDP level (nominal) and growth rate (real)
  • GDP composition: Agriculture / Industry / Services
  • Productivity trend (output per worker)
  • Domestic demand vs external demand contribution
  • Urbanization rate and labor reallocation

DGCP Notes (Structure):

  • GDP composition shows “what the system is.”
  • Shift from low-productivity to higher-productivity sectors is a structural signal.
  • Track changes, not narratives.

Observation Only: Record the composition and direction of change across time windows (YoY / 3Y / 5Y). Do not conclude.

Topic 02 — Export Engine (External Demand)

Objective: Map export dependency and the composition of export earnings.

Key Variables to Track:

  • Exports as % of GDP
  • Top export categories (electronics, textiles, footwear, machinery, etc.)
  • Top destination markets (US / EU / China / ASEAN / others)
  • Value-added level vs assembly level
  • Import content of exports (how much is re-export / imported inputs)

DGCP Notes (Flow):

  • Exports reveal the country’s role in the global supply chain.
  • High export ratio = high sensitivity to external cycles and policy shifts.
  • Composition matters more than headlines.

Observation Only: Track category share shifts and market concentration. No “bull/bear” language.

Topic 03 — FDI Inflow (Capital + Capability Transfer)

Objective: Map how foreign direct investment shapes production capacity and industrial upgrading.

Key Variables to Track:

  • FDI inflow level (annual) and trend
  • FDI composition by sector (manufacturing, real estate, services, energy, etc.)
  • Top source countries (who builds the capacity)
  • Industrial park expansion / capacity build signals
  • Technology transfer signals: supplier ecosystem depth, local content, skills development

DGCP Notes (Capability):

  • FDI is not only money — it is tooling, process, and operational discipline.
  • Sector allocation shows what the system is optimizing for.
  • Watch “where FDI goes,” not just the total number.

Observation Only: Separate manufacturing-capacity FDI from asset-price/real-estate FDI. Record, don’t judge.

DGCP™ Constraint: No prediction. No recommendation. Mapping only.
