Interdependence remains one of the most important yet least visible foundations supporting modern civilization.
Infrastructure depends on infrastructure.
Institutions depend on institutions.
Markets depend on markets.
Communities depend on communities.
Civilization depends on interconnected systems.
Many observers focus on individual organizations, sectors, industries, or technologies.
The discussion frequently centers on isolated performance.
The relationships connecting systems receive less attention.
While reviewing developments across infrastructure networks, governance systems, logistics, finance, energy, communications, and public institutions, I found myself paying less attention to individual systems and more attention to the infrastructure supporting their interdependence.
The system remained visible.
The dependency infrastructure became visible.
The observation was not about independence alone.
The observation was about interconnected existence.

An organization appears independent.
Its operation depends on many surrounding systems.
Behind infrastructure exists infrastructure.

Behind markets exist supporting markets.
Behind civilization exists interconnected dependency.
The relationship is structural.
Interdependence supports coordination.
Coordination supports continuity.
Continuity supports stability.
Stability supports civilization.
The dependency extends across multiple sectors simultaneously.
Energy depends on communications.
Communications depend on electricity.
Finance depends on digital infrastructure.
Logistics depends on transportation.
Viewed independently, these sectors appear separate.
Viewed together, they form one interconnected system.
Interdependent capability.
Interdependence therefore functions beyond cooperation.
It enables civilization to operate across multiple systems simultaneously.
