Extensibility remains one of the most important yet least visible capabilities supporting modern civilization.
Infrastructure depends on extensibility.

Many observers focus on growth through replacement or expansion.
The discussion frequently centers on building larger systems.
The structural capability allowing systems to incorporate new functionality while preserving architectural integrity receives less attention.
While reviewing developments across infrastructure, governance, healthcare, finance, logistics, manufacturing, scientific research, and digital systems, I found myself paying less attention to expansion itself and more attention to the extensibility allowing systems to remain useful as new requirements emerge.
