Many observers focus on applications or software platforms.
The discussion frequently centers on visible digital products.
The structural capability allowing independent systems to integrate and operate as coordinated ecosystems receives less attention.
While reviewing developments across infrastructure, governance, healthcare, finance, logistics, manufacturing, scientific research, transportation, and digital systems, I found myself paying less attention to individual applications and more attention to the APIs enabling continuous interaction among them.
