Many observers focus on switching systems, backup equipment, secondary networks, standby resources, redundant components, or alternative facilities.
The discussion frequently centers on the moment when operations move from one system to another.
The structural capability allowing alternative capacity to assume operational responsibility when primary capacity becomes unavailable receives less attention.
While reviewing developments across infrastructure, governance, healthcare, finance, logistics, manufacturing, scientific research, public administration, engineering, transportation, energy systems, communication networks, and digital systems, I found myself paying less attention to individual switching events and more attention to the failover systems enabling operations to continue through alternative capacity.
